2004 European World GP News

In the first of many articles to come of our racers over in Europe contesting the World Championship GP’s, this article finds us talking about Church more than anything else. No, not that Church, the other Church…Tom.
On a day that was forecasted with rain in mind, Tom Church and the Molsen Kawasaki Racing team started off their day with fans waiting for autographs, and the racers minds wondering if this was going to be an under water event or if the Heaven’s would hold off long enough to the run two motos.
Tom and the team, prepared for the worst, lined up for Moto #1…and then the rains came. With a holeshot in the moto, Tom quickly began to distance himself from the others. With a slight bobble on the first lap, Tom convincingly won the moto in the wet conditions.
Moto #2 saw the conditions worsen because of the rain. Tom got another great start but was pushed outside in the first corner eventually coming out in 12th place. From there Tom pushed his way up to fourth giving him first overall for the day.
No Fear MX rider James Dobb finished up 9th overall with a 5th in the first moto. A mechanical and forced goggle change in the second moto enabled him from getting another top five finish.
